CHIBI BARA COSPLAY

WELOME!
My name is Chibi Bara AKA Mel. I have been a cosplayer in Ontario Canada for over 20 years!
I feel that I could have a lot to offer this amazing community that has connected me with many new friends and creatives! In this blog I will be posting my builds, including WIP progress pictures and a rundown of how I made things! Now bear in mind that I am a self taught sewist and cosplayer through trial and error. I don't claim that this will be the proper way to do things (is there one if it works) but it is how *I* do things. Over the years I have been exposed to new and changing materials, and products that have helped me in my builds. I have experienced failure, and success. Self love and self hate. I hope to blog my thoughts here and use this as a reflective space to refer back to in the future.
Cosplay has been a huge part of my life, and My sister introduced me to smaller cons when I was about 14. From there it seemed like a good excuse to make costumes and wear them year round! It was like Halloween (my fav holiday) all year round! I was very lucky to have her " Mother hen" me and my friends around huge convention spaces for safety and learning how to navigate this crazy culture. If there's one piece of advice I could offer a newcomer its Never wander alone at a con. Traveling in a group is best and also makes way for EPIC group cosplays!
